Week 2 in Cairo

It's my second week in Cairo and already we've done a lot! On Friday April 10th we went to the Pyramids and the Sphinx. I was going to ride a camel, but I decided to ride in a cart pulled by a horse instead. It's funny that I have no memory of the last time I saw the Pyramids when I was 4, but I think I'll remember them now.
The very next day we went to see a lot of old Egyptian churches and mosques. My favorite was the Mosque of Ibn Taloun built in the 800's (that's not a typo). It had a giant tower that I got to climb up. None of the designs on the walls were repeated at all. On Saturday April 18th we went to Al Azhar Park,a wonderfull green hill with delicious food at the restaurant. We met a group of very nice people who taught us a bunch of Egyptian songs. Miss ya! Sami

  1. Awesome, Sami! I;'m forwarding this blogspot to Riley. I hope you're not worn out at Giza, because I want to go ride horses there with you, too, as we did last time. I'm glad you didn't ride a camel, because, as we know, they smell bad (like some people's feet). I'm looking forward to seeing you tomorrow night (It's Monday here). Though you may be asleep when I get there. So, the next day, with me all bleary. Soon, your pal, Mary

PS. Annie and Jave say "Hey, why can't we come?" Ever try to explain something to a dog?

  2. Hello Sami,

We miss you and some of us are wondering how long you will be gone and what the temperature is. Are all pyramids used for tombs? What else do they use them for? Clayton wants to know if they have traps inside them still.

It is sunny here and the temperature was 75 yesterday. Are you staying in a hotel or at someones house?

We miss you and are heading out to recess. Please let us know more about your trip.

Do you have relatives that live in Egypt?

  4. Hi Sami,
I think your nose looks better than he sphinx's of course that's probably because the sphinx doesn't have a nose. We are getting ready for the procession. I finished my hummingbird wings and my mask now has a supper supper long pointy beak.
